Alright, so i went out into the unknown that is seoul south korea and i came back with riches. I now have a 94cm x 10cm x 20cm acrylic box that will be made into a algae scrubber. I have four 30 Watt T8 fluorescents that will light the scrubber. Two on each side. The material i'm using which is the closest i could find to that damn hard to find nylon rug backing that everyone else has, is a nylon mesh with what looks like grass coming out of it. It's that stuff people use to wipe their muddy feet off with before they walk in the house. I have 1/2" pipe that will feed the water plugged into a 30W power head(for now). I plan on getting something bigger that way i can adjust the flow. The wife is pretty pist about how much this hobby is ending up costing, so i'll have to wait a little bit for the bigger pump. I think this 30W will suffice for now. I haven't started putting it together yet but i have some pictures of the box and the mesh material. I'm so freaking excited about this build. This has been the most exciting part of my saltwater tank voyage. When i went to pick it up i felt like a little kid who just got a brand new toy that everyone will be jealous about. Anyways, I will keep everyone posted on the build.

Screen material looks pretty good. It will let light get to the base from both sides, and it will hold on to the algae.

I got a question santamonica, do you think it would be better for the screen material to be double screen, back to back? that way there is "grass" on both sides?

No is thick enough, and will grow on both sides. The trick with cleaning will be to get all if it out, so it does not block the light.
