How do you all get more flow?

I cannot biuld my screen any more narrow...
How do u make the slot wide? and how wide can it be (if its possible in cm´s)?

would it help to build a splash gaurd that can spread the flow more even across the screen?
what kind og material dió u use that that kind of splash gaurd?
