Hello Everyone

My scrubber has been running for over two weeks now. I have 40W CFL 2700CFL bulbs on both sides. First week I scraped off about a handfull of very dark almost black algae. The second week which was yesterday i got pretty much the same amount and the same stuff. Only thing I noticed is that before cleaning on my 2nd week these weird circles started appearing on the scrubber net and they seemed to be getting bigger. What is that ?? Also, is this type of very dark green almost black algae normal? Please see pics below.. Thanks

Circles are pods, eating the algae faster than it is growing. There are alway pods, but they are usually covered up by new growth, so you don't see them. Since your growth is flat like paper, you see them.

Black growth needs cleaning every 3 days until it turns brown. Stronger lights will speed up the process.

They are baby copepods, less than 7 days old, so you can only see them with a microscope.
