This is my DIY Scrubber. 6.5" x 12". Couldn't put a union on the pipe due to Space restrictions. There is 2 150 Watt(42 REAL) CFL's on either side. With a rio 1700 pump feeding it.

Can you get the bulbs closer?

Sure. I thought they were about 5" away but I checked before I left this morning and the left side was 7" and right was 9". I am shooting for about 5 inches away right?

Or, as close as you can get without it turning yellow.

So you're using CFLs with the actual wattage of 150W? What's the incandescent equivalent on those?? I didn't think they made 150W CFLs. I would DIY yourself a very large reflector.

150 watt equivalent, 42 real watts

I don't think enough light from the bulb is reaching the screen.

So I'm guessing a DIY reflector is in order?

Something... even a temporary foil reflector.
