All,

I've been doing some research for a year now, but everywhere I look on scientific websites where artificial created places to grow algae and phytoplancton are presented, I see the folowing quote returning over and over:

"The duration of light exposure should be approximately 16 hours daily; this is the most efficient artificial day length"

Will the 16 hours work out better than 18 ?

What I understood is : if more time works better for you - it means you need stronger light or closer to screen.

To be short - yes.

Don't forget the high-wattage option: Twice the watts, half the hours.
