thought it was my ph due to brewing beer in basement where sump is,,,thought it was hydrogensulphide due to remote deep sand bed,,,but I guess it is something else? everything in my system has recovered and is thriving after removing the beer and remote sand bed but for some reason my hammer coral is back in decline after looking better for a day or two. this coral is large(50 heads) and is my oldest coral,I have had it for almost 10 years now,I would hate to loose it. any ideas what would only affect a hammer coral?

Too much iron might.

santa,,,you,,,your good! lol I just started dosing iron to try and reduce the hydrogen sulfide that my old deep sand bed was making. I will stop dosing and see what happens. will the algae quickly eat up the iron?

It will eat the iron.

when you over dosed iron did corals that wear half dead recover? This guy is not showing any RTN but he is showing tissue loss on half the heads:(

All eventually died completely, except the elegance which was 12" wide and is now just 3".

The iron really hit the green fleshly corals the most.

Could feeding a DIY food with a high nori content affect green fleshy corals such as frogspawn and branching hammers?

I doubt it... the food would be eaten by animals first. The iron I poured in was not eaten. There was so much that the iron started collecting inside of all the clear hoses.

yea my hammer is still not looking good but all other corals are fine. I dosed a total of 12 Iron suplement tablets over the course of 5 days. Does not seem like it would be enough to do any harm as I have dosed one tablet per day in the past.
