View Full Version : heatsink/leds hunting for good prices

does anybody know were the best place is to get the heatsinks for the leds , in the uk for a decent price . or would i be better of getting them all shipped over from china or the usa . in the uk we pay way over the odds for everything .

Have you had a look in Maplin? They have a good choice and I will be going there this week to gt something suitable.

If you can't get large heat sinks inexpensively, you can try using square aluminum tubing and running a fan through it. A fan like this: http://shop.stevesleds.com/Cooling-Fans_c11.htm.

For my FW tank I have used aluminium spirit level that I find at home depot very cheap. Ripped off al plastic and got nice heatsink. Being 1.2 m long each handles 20W of led with no fans at all. I thing it can handle way more actually.

Nice, I am glad to see someone using these people. I have bought AMP building equipment from here for years. Real nice folks too!!!
