I like that set-up!! I sure do miss my basement, I moved to Louisiana from Michigan and learned that they do not have basements here. What a damper on having a huge sump container in the basement anymore. That growth you have is very similar to mine, let us know what you do if it starts to go green. I just upgraded mine two days ago to one with more GPH so we will see if it makes a difference.

My algae is growing brown and the mag 9 is not pushing enough water in the end of the screen as i would lile.. i wonder why.

I have an elbow right before the scruber tube that slows the flow down.. i wonder if thats the issue

Ditto!! Mine looks about the same. I just updated my pump and have more flow now and it appears to be a little greener but not much. I will clean today and see what the next cleaning looks like. I think this increase in flow is going to make a change in it.

My pump feeding it is a mag 9.5.. should be plenty of flow..

Are you running 3/4 pipe or 1/2 pvc? I got better (more even) flow with the 3/4.

More watts or more hours.

You need a dark period to complete the photosynthesis period. I upgraded watts and flow and think this is going to help me a lot. I run 18 on.

You could experiment with more than 18. If it's not photosynthesizing much, then it might not need to respire much.

I dont get it.. i got a mag 9.5 at 2 feet feeding it.. i have four 23 real watts lighting it.. my return iwaki pump delivers 1000 gph to the sump... Should be perfect.. im a bit frustrated.

A screen that size is going to need 2 to 3 cubes of food a day before it gets thick green.

You don't need to for filtering, but you do for green. Your screen is too big to get thick; that's why the new guidelines are for smaller screens... to allow them to get thick.
