View Full Version : Water tests on my 40G scrubber tank

I wanted to share with everyone my test results of my 40G SW scrubber tank that has been running since the weekend before Fathers Day without ANY water changes since inception. The tank never even really had an ammonia spike.

How are you maintaining Ca levels ?
If only we can have the same simple self limiting system for Ca, like we have now for P and N :roll:

Here are a couple pics. Just getting this tank rolling. Still waiting on the new technology so I can get the scrubber pump out of the tank. The corals are all young. I am still battling that green branchy type algae, its tough stuff not sure what it is. I also have some bubble algae as you can see to that is going away. There is more fish in there, they are camera shy!!
I use Kent Calcium Reactor to keep it up. I need to add some as it was down to about 360-380 or so.

Looks like you are off to a great start, Good luck with it and don't forget to update with new pics!

Here is an update, it just changed this morning with a new addition of this Long tentacle plate coral. Those two big chunks are very porous, its full of starts and pods.

OK, some scrubber pic, not pretty but effective. This one only cost me a buzz LOL!! 44W CFL on about a 9x6 double sided screen.

LOL, they are cheap and effective. I just got some mirror plastic that I am going to line them with and see if that helps any.
