I just upgraded my one just like SM, its vert now as of Sunday night. It started out with a CFL then I built a LED array for it with 4 660nm. Now its vertical and the screen is much shorter and I am using 2 660nm LED's per side. In the first pic if you look way to the upper right you can see a little slice of my double screen scrubber that runs my 150G FW. In the second pic you can see the horizontal filter base is still there. I am making a bracket so I can set in on my acrylic cover so I can remove the base for the horizontal base. I am also fabricating a cover that will hold the LED heat sinks and cover the top. This is still in the test and design Phase.

Ahh, the telltale alien-pink glow of 660s...
I saw Rygh posted in one of his threads recently that he noted a significant difference in strength of the algae by adding a blue to the mix.
On your build, the thing that worries me the the most is the way that thing is supported. Looks borderline dangerous. Just sayin'.

I know, its in there pretty snug though. LOL. It does look scary!!! My wife said the something, I told here to make it move and that satisfied her. I want to make the drains in the bottom connect to a couple or three bulk heads in the acrylic top. This way it only moves when that half of the top is moved. I could even then mount the little pump I use the lid as well and make it all one unit??!!?? Its still a work in progress, thanks for the concern Sir. I also plan to put some blue in my next one. I will be converting my 40G to LED's pretty soon, my parts should be here this week. Its a 6x6 so I figured 4 660nm in a square pattern with a blue right in the middle.

Here is a few pics of my New LED scrubber screen. I think I might back the lighting off about an hour or two, any other suggestions please feel free to let me know. This is the 2nd cleaning.

That screen looks great for the 3rd cleaning! Is the darker looking algae in the first 2 pics kind of slimy and comes off easily with a light swipe? It looks like the slime coating I get on mine around day 8 or 9

I guess pics of the first cleaning would have been useful. So here they are. 1ST cleaning:

Its really harder to scrap off with the vertical LED's now. Its holding on pretty well actually. All the nutrients are zero-ish which is better then the other horizontal LED.

I thought maybe I would go two weeks but it starts to clog the slot.

phenomenal first week growth. Was that starting from a bare screen???

No, it was cleaned from my horizontal then I cut it down to fit the new vert unit. It looked just like the cleaned screen in the above 2nd cleaning photo.

It could use more hours, not less.

OK, great! Its on now for about 16.5 hours I will bump it up to 18 this weekend. Its on the same driver as the display LED's but, I got my little driver in yesterday that is intended to go for the scrubber LED's only. Thanks for the info Sir!!
