So I wasnt happy with my scrubber because of the room in my sump, I needed to have a large screen or else it wouldnt reach the water and the scrubber would be loud and splashy. So I build this one today to try and resize it. It came out OK, the problem is I think I should have used 1/4th inch acrylic, and I used 1/8th. Everything is OK except for a small bend in the base, and I am worried that the legs that hold the scrubber to the sump will break off causing a major problem. What do you guys think?? Hopefully I will get some green with this

I would glue a piece of 1/4 or 3/8 acrylic to the bottom to stiffen it, or just a use piece of wood to span the sump and set the scrubber on top of that.

If you still have piece of acrylic, glue stripe to bottom as to made T shape. This bend is asking for problems . And you know, if something can go wrong - it will. :)

You know what I am going to do.. I need to connect some PVC to the bulkhead to stop the waterfall that I have right now. I am going to make the PVC hit the base of the sump so its acting as a support beam. I will drill a lot of holes in it for the water to exit

Just cut the bottom of the pvc at a 45° angle. No need to drill holes.

What does yellow rubbery growth indicate?

Too much light and not enough nutrients. Cut the light back or feed more / increase flow

Grr Ive messed around with my lighting so much and nothing seems to give me good green growth. Increase feeding isnt neccessary as my tank is starting to grow GHA like a champ.. I dont have an easy way to measure flow right now but lets just say its GUSHING out of the slot

What is N and P, what's in the tank, and what do you feed/how much?

Nitrates are almost always undetectable because I dose 3ml of vodka daily. Before I was dosing it would read around 1ppm. PO4 is usually around .02-.03. I feed a cube per day and a few pinches of flake, or just 2-3 pinches of flake per day. Sometimes I will add like a 1x1" square or nori for the tang

I have 1 yellow tang, 1 wrasse, 1 anthia, 2 chromis, 1 clown.

Looks to me like that's a 6x6 screen so it could be underfed. I would ween off the vodka dosing, that is competing with the algae

The issue I have is that my main tank is growing plenty of algae now, so I dont want to feed more to try and get green growth on the screen. My goal is to remove nuisance algae from the DT, if that can be accomplished growing nothing on the screen thats fine with me. Not sure if I am saying it right, but I would rather have zero growth on screen and in tank, then to have lots of algae growth both on screen and in tank..

Actually the GHA all started when I changed my ATS from an in sump to an over sump. The in sump was over sized and growing just slime but it was growing more than this small screen. Now this scrubber is filtering about zero, and the growth in DT has started.

Ok I cut back on the lighting time, and also increased flow and finally got some green. Its a bit uneven because the water isnt flowing over the screen evenly, so I took it out and tried to fix the slot.
