View Full Version : Where is your ats located
Hi my names cole i have a 210 gallon fish tank and. I am hoping to make an ats for it but first i have a few questions. So right now my plans is to have two one sided nets that are 20 inches by 10 inches with 4 cfl bulbs between each net. My main questions was where does your ats tie into your system or do you run nothing but your ats.
Thank you

I suggest going to the build thread section and seein what ppl have done. But my 180 the drains run into scrubber then down to sump. Chk out my build thread for pics
Ok thats what i was thiunkin of doing. another question i have is that right now in my tank i have a small refugium with hardly any algae in it would you guys just shut that down and use it has room for the ats If I don't do that then ill have to buy a new tank for the ats and i fiqured if the ats works great like i'm hoping then the algae in the refugium will die off anyways.
Thanks

I run one above the sump fed via a pump, oversized, but will soon get replaced. +1 on convert the fuge, it will go away anyways. Size based on feeding not tank volume

over the sump here too
Hmm i feed two to three cubes of food per a day but i looking ahead i believe i will be feeding 3-44 cubes a day when the whole fish tank is done with... should i count live feeding of rotifers and phyto when i calculate how big the screen should be.
Thanks for all the input

Depends on your feeding, but if I had a 210G tank I would need a screen that is 40"x10", so in my opinion your a little on the small size for that size tank. As for lighting, well, if using CFLs then lighting a 20"x10" screen needs 2 lights per side. LEDs would be much better but 4x 42w CFLs would work as well, just waste a ton of electricity and take over 160w of power.
If i were to use leds on a two sided 20 by 10 ats how many leds would you guys use and what colors.
