Well. Here we go... Picked up a 5g tank.. drilled it.. and airstone.
For now it has one spot light. Tomorrow i plan on adding two more and wrapping the tank in aluminum foil..
I difinitely need a bigger air pump tho.

Yes it does need another bulb on each side, or a smaller screen. But then it's just a test.

I think you're gonna need a top on that tank! I would cut the pipe so the water level is about 1" above the screen and put a glass top on it or else that's salt creep central...

Remember it took 2 years to figure out how to get green on waterfalls.

In my own test, it seems co2 systems require less lighting. If you see yellow, the chloroplasts have been damaged (the yellow are carotenoids). This pigment is an accessory pigmment which only works if the chloroplast is in tact ( think deciduous leaves falling from trees in autumn ). If I were you I would back off on the lighting and gently ramp it up if possible. Algae produce lots of chemicals on their way to produce growth and if this is suddenly dissolved into your system, who knows what effects this would have. Slowly, slowly, catchy monkey.

It was converted.. u can see its still in d slot... Lol

I suggest this is why you don't seem to be having the problems with exposure that other people are having. Very wise choice.

Actually, when i first set it i was only getting yellow growh.. and very little. It wasnt till i cut my hours to
9 that i started getting green.

I take it you will be ramping up the lighting to guideline amounts after a while.

Not necessarily. I've never had any luck running lights over 10-12hrs.. the algae turns yellow every time. so it will stay on that schedulle till I get my LED unit ready.. then I'll see what happens.

i hope you get good results from just the bubbles from your overflow. that would make it too easy

so far looks great.. not only do I have a bunch of bubbles.. but there is awesome upflow from the slot itself.. It should work just as good if not better.
RkyRickstr - have you got some sort of backup overflow from your DT just in case the UAS blocks?
