Well this is a success scrubber story or is it a scrubber...
Maybe a horizontal scrubber/hang on the back sponge scrubber.
This is my 15G Fresh Water at work. wasn't sure how it would work out with me not being there on the weekends, but I bought an auto feeder for Sat. and Sun Days...
I don't know how long this tank has been set up, but I think it's close to half a year or a little longer. I have an upflow algae scrubber screen in it with no actual light shinning on it. Just the light from the main lighting above and there is not much algae on it....
I have two Angel Fish that I got about an inch long and now they are three inches long.
After getting the angels I noticed in time my whole tank was getting Brown Algae using one round florescent light. The sides back and bottom Brown.
While driving down the road I found an aquarium light that someone discarded and it held two screw in light bulbs so I put some CFL bulbs in there and hovered it above the tank. After some time I noticed some Yellow green algae starting to grow everywhere. It overcame the brown algae and now its just Yellow green.
And having it above the tank with my sponges on my hang on the back filters just out of the water slightly the sponge material on both filters have grown algae on them and the ramp of the filter.
The success story without any water changes .... Just adding water with evaporation.... only adding
Nitrite --- Zero
Nitrate --- Zero
PH --- 7.2
Hardness --- Around 150
Alkalinity --- About 120
