I have 2 Hog.5 UAS's that are struggling along IMO. I have modified them with larger holes and have the screen pretty flat.

This one started 10 weeks 2 days ago and this is after 12 days from a cleaning.

Here it is after the cleaning.

3436

Here is the second one that started 7 weeks 4 days ago. This is before the cleaning at 14 days.

3437

What do you guys think? I still have the same amount of algae in the display. I thought that I would have done more my now.

Ah... both are burning.

If you have the unit down in the water (which gets the most water flow), then reduce hours by 2.

They are both at the bottom of a 12" high tank. I have the lights running 4hrs on 2hrs off then 4hrs again once per day. What is your thoughts? Do 2 x 3hrs on's?

Total of 6 hours per day, anytime you want to run them. You are currently running 16 hours.

I was running a total of "8 hrs" a day with 2 shifts. I just raised them to 1" from the top. They where 4" from the top before.

I will just set the time now to 6 hrs straight to keep it easy.
Thanks

Note; I'm running both of these with a Luft pump on max.

Here is info on it.
The Luft Pump delivers 7.0 psi against water pressure, making it an excellent choice for ponds. Its heavy rubber diaphragm cannot be damaged by back pressure; this means if an airstone has not been maintained, the diaphragm won't be damaged. The adjustable rheostat increases air flow by regulating electricity, not by blocking air flow, allowing more efficient, economical performance.

For aquariums up to 90 gallons.
Can be used with multiple valves or T-connectors for multiple devices.
Quiet operation. Includes replaceable airline filters and airline clamp.
Dimensions: 6.75” x 3.5” x 3”
7.0 PSI
4.0 L/Hr

Is this Okay in you opinions.

Is that 4.0 LPM ?

Yep.

Well you only need up to 1 LPM for one unit, so I'm sure 4 is enough for two.

The second unit does not seem to bad... should fill in shortly. Clean one each week.

Well I'm strongly thinking of pulling the plug on these. I have gone down to 6 hrs and I think that what little growth that would grow on the screen has slowed down even more. So my thinking is that 6 hours is not enough hours to get good growth. If I add more then it just burns all but the outer 1/2'' or so. The 2nd Hog.5 looks the same as this one really. It is at 11 weeks now and I have a hard time believing that more time will change anything. Not sure why they work for others but it is not working for me. Maybe it is not capable of removing algae in a Zeo system? Soon I will fine out if the waterfall type does.

This is 5 days growth. 3475

Here is the display. So I know there is enough nutrients. 3476

Then just do like BigAl did, and let it go for a month.

How many hours a day would you run the lights? I'm really thinking that it can't be 8hrs or it will not get started as the center burns so much.

Your growth looks good, so keep the same hours. It just needs time to thicken up.

I had one of the inside magnets fall off of the wet side.

What is the best way to reattach these.

Also looks like they are starting to rust. Not sure if that is a issue?3477

Use silicone.

Starting today we are building them with black silicon for the magnets.

It's on the wet side. How long can I have the screen out of the water?

24 hours to dry. Just take the wet side out and put in a shallow pan of water to keep the screen wet, but the magnets are above the water.

Here is the screen after running for 4 weeks without a cleaning as recommended. Starting to get more algae and cyano in the DT. Hmm Stumped. This is befor cleaning it. I just did a light tooth brushing under water. 3613

Is still burning. Need to increase water flow through it.

Do you have holes on both sides of the bubble cover? Add them if not. Are the bottom holes blocked in sand? Did you open up the holes more?

At some point enough water/nutrients have to be going through it so it has to grow.
