Coraline is a nuisance. Now the riddle. If(since) live rock houses good beneficial bacteria. And the more porous the rock the better. Would not coraline covered rock be bad? Seeing it seals the rock. And what about the critters living in it?

Coraline is a calcareous algae. It is not considered invasive and provides filtering. Coraline needs light to grow so the part of the rocks not exposed to light usually doesn't grow any so there is still plenty of holes for critters and bacteria to get into the rock.

Coralline does not seal rock. It is porous calcium carbonate, i.e. it is rock itself.

Nice to know. My last set up had very very little coraline which didn't bother me. This temporary tank is exploding with it. Looks very solid.

Some of the urchins graze on coraline. Adding one of them might open up some of your rockwork.
