View Full Version : How does UAS remove nitrates/phosphates

I understand how algae absorbs these nutrients, but how can we have a tank of 0 nitrates/phosphates if the algae actually sits in our aquarium like this uas device? If it's only emptied every 7 days, doesn't it mean that we actually have high levels of nitrates/phosphates until the screen is clean?

Thanks for any feedback.. Trying to wrap my head around this cool thing.

Yes, the system will have the same nutrients except the algae binds them into itself and therefore makes it unavailable (on the whole) for anything else. This process turns inorganic nutrients into organic nutrients (food or export method).

Think of the nutrients as being locked in a box. You remove the box and throw it away.
