Hey guys,

Sure this has been covered somewhere but a quick search didn't really answer my question.

About to build my first WFAS. I plan on feeding this off my drain and plan on incorporating a valve to allow me to control the flow. Is there a particular size that seems to work better for these things? Comming off my drain i'm at 1 1/4'' pvc. Was thinking of reducing the scrubber portion down to either 3/4'' or 1''. Does it really matter?

I used 1" on mine. I think it really comes into play if you need a long/wide scrubber. If the scrubber is shorter/narrow, you can use 3/4" and be fine. I wanted to be able to get more flow, so I went with 1" pvc.

3/4" is fine. 1" might be better for a really wide scrubber, but minimally. I've made them for others with 1-1/4". IMO if you go over 12" long use Schedule 80. Less propensity to pinch closed in the middle (immediately, after cutting, S-40 will close up towards the middle)

Thanks for the input guys. Just picked up my plumbing parts. Going to reduce it down just to an inch is all then split off. One to the skimmer section of sump, the other to the scrubber. Scrubber will have a valve so I can control the flow rate. Out to eat with the family now
