Uneven water flow

Hey all, So I finally got my build running, Its not on the tank yet but just attached to some buckets and my scrubber/sump. Im having an issue with the water flow being away from the inlet of the pump and not covering the entire screen. I have the inlet on one side and the pipe is just capped off. Is there any modification I can try to fix that? Or should I just attach it to the tank and see if the screen will grow in? I have around 220 gph of flow on a 4.5 inch screen.

Ok thanks SM, today was the first day that I had it running on my tank so hopefully Ill see some results soon :)
