View Full Version : Aragonite RODI enhancement
Anyone put a canister of Aragonite sand in line with there RODI system? And if so, what cal, ALK readings do you get, thanks. :)
After a bit of experimentation dissolving Aragonite with RODI;

So full steam ahead with my CaCO3 re-mineraliser :)
Also found this, for an alternative use of the dust from aragonite sand;

Funny I came across the GARF page once before...I thought it might have been you until I noticed it was on this side of the pond

How about some details. ;) What are the CA/Alk readings once it is dissolved in x volume of water? How is it better/worse/cheaper than using Kalkwasser?
Won't replace Kalk Ace. The ppm rates are very low compared to Kalk and all other means of supplementation. However, I've got some old sand, and old reverse osmosis pretreatment canister set and the tubing so it's a little bit of improvement for zero cost. No doubt the cal, ALK, mag and strontium (and a bit of phos) will be introduced in proper ratios, even if low. Who knows, maybe enough to keep a low calcifying tank going.
