So I've tried lots of different combinations of screens, enclosed screens, cable ties on screens, pump for flow...etc

Recently after trying two different ideas i was getting more algae growth in the sump chamber than i was on my screen. I have now ditched the screen and just light the chamber itself.

My scrubber setup now consists of a light and a air bubbler, nothing else. Takes about 5 days for the chamber to be pretty much full. All i have to do at cleaning time is reach in, grab what i can and scrape the front glass. Simples!

Looks good. Is the same as floating surface scrubber, without the ribbons.

Yeah i guess it is. I was surprised how well it grows onto the chamber walls as there glass and acrylic so not rough at all. Going to have a play about with different types/position of bubbles now see if i can up the growth more.

About how big is the chamber? I just got back from vacation, and while my screen had dark color algae, the chamber I have it in had build up on the glass as well. I was thinking about taking the approach as well, but my chamber is quite big.
