I have a 150G setup - upgraded from a 75g, running with an ATS for about 1 month. - moderately stocked

I have a horizontal screen 8" x 20" ~1200gph from return. Lit by 2x 23x CFL bulbs - 2300k and 5700k. I have lowered the light since from taking the picture.

In the first week or so I have been getting green hair algae to grow on the screen,
since then Cyano has taken over. I have also been growing some kind of sponge/ foam. No idea what it is.

What is considered good algae?

Welcome to the forum derekc85;

It's a strange process thru which your turf builds. Often you will go thru 2, 3, or 4 different algae before your screen settles on turf. It can take several weeks. What's important is seeing changes occurring over each week until you reach turfdom.

See my original scrubber build, the next to last page, for examples of where you want to end up with your turf. (scroll all the way down)

Harvested - I got half red and half green algae (picture doesnt show) I believe the red is cyano. Should I remove all the cyano from the system? Because there are still some pieces attached on the acryllic.

Top is green algae, bottom is cyano

Picture is taken after cleaning, but usually there are a lot of bubbles on the screen.

The turf should out-compete the cyano eventually. I wouldn't worry about it.
