No water change with an algae scrubber

Is it correct that with an algae scrubber I don't need to do any water changes anymore ? If not, what is the necessary steps to move towards and freshwater aquarium that don't need water change ?

Generally, yes. The scrubber removes what most people do water changes for. Scrubbers don't remove medications or poisons though.
