Hi!

What LEDs should I use for a one-sided 10cm x 7,5cm vertical UAS? :)
(This was the screen size recommended for 1/2 cube of frozen food/day, when lit on one side, in the updated (2012) algae scrubber screen size FAQ)

I want to try and make a small and slim UAS to put on the back of a AquaClear50 HOB filter.
I have ordered this project box for the UAS trays: http://www.ebay.com/itm/261422984640?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Since the 32mm thick box splits into two 16mm deep trays when it is disassembled I hope that it will be perfect for my project. One tray to hold my 10cm x 7,5cm plastic mesh inside the AC50, and one tray as an enclosure for the LEDs. :)

If your phosphate is lower that 0.2 ppm then I would put two 3-watt red LEDs. If your phosphate is higher I would put three, or maybe four LEDs. You could operate them separately for a low and high power setting.

Ok, great :)
What light spectrum do you mean with "red" LEDs?

Should I have one or two blue LEDs also, or is it not needed?

Blue not needed. Use 660 nanometer "deep red", also known as "plant grow" red.

Sounds great, thanks for the help! :)

I will update the thread with pics when I have made the UAS :)
