Do ATSs remove or even add?

Do ATS's remove trace elements or even add trace elements that corals would utlise, not of course the heavy metals and exccessive nitrate and phosphates which we know are removed and taken up by GHA? So do ATS's add trace elements or do they simply remove them by untilsing them?
