It needs to be silent. Anyone have designs out there for a silent or near silent waterfall scrubber?

Sure, the only noise from a waterfall scrubber is the water splashing and the pump. Lots of choices for quiet pumps. To keep the splashing sound down make it wide and short. I have filter floss directly beneath my waterfall above the water line. That way it filters the water including any algae that breaks off the screen and there is almost no splashing sound because the filter floss works like a baffle. My setup falls about 8", I'm sure it would be quieter still if it was a 4" drop and twice as wide with the same screen size.

You can test it pretty easily. Get a pitcher of water and pour it into a bucket 1/2 full of water. You'll see the further the water falls the louder it is. Now place a piece of filter floss on the surface and do it again. You can see if that sound is something you can live with for no cost.
