For anyone in Australia, where is the best place (if any) where I can buy lights for my scrubber in Australia...or is ebay my only friend? Only a small tank/small scrubber so I will be looking at the minimum requirements. Been searching the net but either I don't know what I am looking for or not available here.

PS Have not build it yet but thought I will source the parts so long...

Excellent SM, I will give them a go...and not costing me an arm and a leg either!

SantaMonica, I ordered the lights you suggested and waited patiently. Week after latest delivery date I did eventually inquired about it and literally within minutes they just refunded my money with a note to please not give them negative feedback!! Cheesed off to say the least...

Anyway, seems I can now get it in Australia but a quick question as it appears the ones I am looking at are slightly different. The one I can get here says:

10W
Led chips: 3 series 3 parallel
Leds: 6 pieces red chip:620--660nm + 3 pieces blue chip:450--470nm;

The original one ordered had also 9 but it was listed as 8 red and 1 blue.

Question is the 6/3 good enough or should I shop around for 8/1?

I am using these exact lights. I don't however have the lights super close to the scrubber.

My nitrates stay high and my scrubber gathers a darker algae on it...

Any tips?

More important that how much red+blue, is the wattage and distance. So try the 6+3

I growth is dark, then it needs more wattage, and/or a closer distance.

They are the 30W version of the LED flood light (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/302080341166)

I think they are too far away then...

My issue is mounting them, thanks for the feed back

If you can't move them closer, then do more hours.

Already doing that

I'm see about getting them closer

Thanks

Thank SantaMonica, will give them a go, seems they more readily available now so will try the 10w and see how it goes.

I would suggest the 30W min so that it penetrates to the root and you get better growth...that is what I was told anyway

Thanks for the tip, just checked and of course the 30W is sold out, may try the 20W then and see how I go.
