Hi Guys,

I am in the early stages of creating an algae scrubber for my freshwater 40 UK gallon tank. I have found a couple these:
http://www.neweysonline.co.uk/newlec-as ... 1B7CCCF2E7 (http://www.neweysonline.co.uk/newlec-asymmetric-small-floodlight-70w/1052029296/ProductInformation.raction;jsessionid=AD14ADB596D1 4331B91A591B7CCCF2E7) floodlights in my garage.

Would they work for the algae scrubber?

Liam

No... to much heat, not enough light.

You need fluorescents

Thanks for the reply.

Would I be able to use the lampholder but just change the bulb?

Also do we have any scubber builders in the UK?

Hey

I have been looking around for a suitable pump. The link below shows a pump with a flow of 2000LPH. The price seems a little too good to be true though. What do you guys think?

I have also purchased the below bulb. Would this be suitable for the scrubber?

SM

I have seen the links for your adapters and fittings but I need a UK based site. See the link below, is this what I need?

OK I m just about there with my bucket filter. How can I overcome the problem of having to have the bucket above the tank?

Make it into a sump.

So I have my pump in the display tank? How does the water get from the sump back into the tank?

No, you overflow into the bucket, then pump it up from there:
