First Attempt at Algea Scrubber

First of all awesome site. I have been wanting to setup a Seahorse tank but the effort needed for an elaborate sump always stopped me. Then my brother pointed me to this site!

Here is a pic of my first scrubber attempt. Tank is 37 gallon. Screen is 6x10 with 2x23watt CF. Sorry for the crappy pic only had my phone. I just started it up today (along with the tank). Anything I'm doing wrong?

Looks good to me. Great light coverage. Looks very accessible too. Is the screen in the water at all? If not, try to get it atleast an inch in the water. This will quiet it down greatly or completely.

The nice thing about those big reflectors is they give more even coverage.

One of the screens is in the water, it is nice and quiet. Day two and it already looks like the screen is starting to get some color. I just want some nice algea already!

Didn't see a timer in your picture. Just want to make sure your running your lights 18hrs on and 6hrs off.

I have a timer on there now and I'm running 18 hours. Top of the screen is really starting to turn brown now.

There was quite a bit of salt on my lights, so I added splash screens today made out of styrene. Based on the water that is already on my splash screens it seems like salt creep is going to get on there pretty quickly. I tried to search but didn't find much info on splash screens, is there a consensus on the best splash screen design?

Just some cheap clear acrylic between the lights and screen will work.

If the bald spot near the bulb continues, move the bulb 2" further away.
