just built a quick ats to keep the water nice and healthy on my 30 g coral bay , people now that are coming to buy stock from me iam having very involving conversations about them going down the ats way , ?
i have just built my first small version of the sm 100 , mines only 14in long but 6 in deep , 6 t5 bulbs , going to clean a jewel 120
i will post pics soon

been running now 6 days just got brown alage , will it start to go green after a few cleans ???????????????????

Yea probably after one or two. The green needs a strong base to attach to, because it grows longer and gets pulled by the flow.

hi sm , screen is very very rough , the tank has nothing in it , its one iam setting up for my coral bay , i've chucked some prawns in , get the bacteria going , hoping screeen will kick in and sort the rest out ?

Yes. You should feed liquid coral food though instead.

Try some blended oysters. Any brand, like Oyster Feast.

hi
iam not getting the green i've started feeding the tank on lobseter eggs and brine shrimp , the coral bay is 30g uk, the screens 10x6 the lighting are 2 x 25w cfls , i've ordered some oyster feast ,
heres some pics been running now about 3weeks , cleaning regular .

Yea that's not strong growth; looks like lack of light power. The bulbs are 25w, equivalent to about 120w?

You are cleaning every week?

yeh the bulbs are 100x equivalent , cleaning off black sluge , as soon as it appearers, the no fish in the tank just corals

If the tests are good, then nothing to worry about. If the test are high, try adding two more bulbs temporarily.

feeding tank now with oyster feast , been feeding a few days screen still brown , should i add the extra bulbs , ?

already have 25w on each side should i move to 50w each side tanks only 30 g

Wait until you are getting green. Extra nutrients won't help it get green. More lights will help.

i have added 2 more bulbs so i now have 2 20w cfl bulbs 2700k on each side of the screen the the flows good the tanks only 30g and feeding oyster feast , i will take a picture next week before i clean , cheers sm
i can see the green now coming though still a little thin though ?

here are the test results after 4weeks of scrubbing to be far the green was'nt showing on 25w

i have incressed the wattage to 40w wach side 2 20w bulbs , i did this on sunday just gone i can see the green now , heres the test results

i will clean on sunday and do another water test before hand . i'am also feed coral bay with oyster feast
ph 8.2
nitrate 20ppm
nitrite 0ppm
ammonia 0.25ppm

You need to move the bulbs lower. Can you put a reflector on them?

I'd stop the feast for a bit, until the ammonia is zero.

The bulbs do have reflectors behind them its taped to the glass will stop the feed. The bulbs are in the middle of the screen. Its now working well. Thanks fof the advise sm

Looks good. High nutrients. Either wait for them to come down, or add wattage.
