How about this set up
Screen would be 9"x14" water will be coming straight from overflow running at a rate of 140gL/Hr
On both sides T5 will be connected straight onto the acrylic design over the entire length of the device.
2 x T5 38W 3700K
ATS will drain into a seperate chamber just in front of the return pump chamber seperated by an airtrap
oh and it will be connected to a 150gL DT tank
Any other info you might need to give some extra advise?

150 gal would need 150 square inches. Yours is a little small at 126 square inches.

150 gal would need 150 watts for high filtering, or 75 watts for medium filtering. Yours is 76 watts so that is good.

A 9 inch wide screen needs at least 9 X 35 = 315 gph. Your flow is 140 gph, so that is not nearly enough. If you can't increase flow (with a bigger return pump), then make the screen half as wide and twice as tall. This will be the same area, but will only need 160 gph flow.

So as long as you are not feeding too much, this should be good as the only filter if you fix the flow. If you are feeding a lot, however, you'll want to have more wattage.

Could easily adjust the flow as now the flow will be adjusted straight from return with ball valve so I can just turn up the flow to the ATS.
The size would be a big issue? 25sq inches aint that much too small is it?
Lights could be adjusted easily too I guess.
About making it wider could be hard but nothing is impossible I guess.
Will keep you posted on how it works.

would 120W on both side be too much?
Also could aluminum be used for the screen?
I have some real rough very thin aluminum musquito netting would it do or not smart?

240 total watts is not too much if spread out evenly across the screen. Can't use aluminum... needs to be plastic canvas.

hooked it of the overflow drain and hooked it up on a 750GPH pump now coming from the skimmer chamber in my sump?
its a double screen. Used a PVC musquito netting with small holes. see pics below.
still drains straight into my return pump chamber?
Would that be too much flow or the more the better?
it looks like a heavy flow now though.

As long as you can see a flow across the whole screen, it should be ok. You should attach the two layers together, so that algae does not push them apart.

??
like in stitching them together?

SantaMonica

That would work

For the lights would be using 2 14W CFL lights 6200K (cool daylight)
1 on each side.
Enough or not? Lower K or good?

28 total watts is not enough for a 150 gal. Needs at least 75 watts.

And 6200K is too high. Get 2800 or 3000K.

OK installed 2 20W (90W) CFL 2700K with 1200lm
will install some sort of reflectors too so light is more directed towards ATS and doesnt get lost in the other direction.
Scrubber is placed into operation as of now though.
screens were stitched together.
Still have to add a valve so flow will be adjusted as now flows in too hard causing the water to skip the front part of the screen.

No no no. 20 watts bulbs are too small. You need at least 75 watts total, not 40. Add two more 23 watt CFL warm whites (equivalent to 120 watts each bulb). This will give you about 90 total watts.

Reminder:

Quick Guideline:

0.5 actual (not equivalent) fluorescent watts per gallon MINIMUM [0.13 watts per liter].
1.0 actual (not equivalent) fluorescent watts per gallon for HIGH filtering [0.26 watts per liter].
1.0 square inches of screen per gallon, with bulbs on BOTH sides (10 x 10 = 100 square inches = 100 gal)
[1.64 square cm per liter]
2.0 square inches of screen per gallon, if vertical but lit on just ONE side. [3.28 square cm per liter]
4.0 square inches of screen per gallon, if HORIZONTAL [6.56 square cm per liter].
1.5 actual (not equivalent) fluorescent watts per gallon if HORIZONTAL [0.4 watts per liter].
18 hours of lights ON, and 6 hours of lights OFF, each day.
Flow is 24 hours, and is at least 35 gph per inch of width of screen, EVEN IF one sided [60 lph per cm].
Very rough screen made of roughed-up-like-a-cactus plastic canvas.
Clean algae off of screen every SEVEN (7) days NO MATTER WHAT YOU THINK.

ok so I added a new lighting design to the original screen.
Built a black acrylic light box around the original screen with 2 CFL 23W (=120W) light bulbs.
So would this be enough lights now.
Oh and yes thanks for the advise on the large ATS design ( viewtopic.php?f=3&t=800 (http://algaescrubber.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=800) )
I went back to the drawing board on that one and will get back to you on that one soon.
Will post pictures of this one later tonight as the battery of the camera went flat.
Attached the design drawings. (note that on the drawings the acrylic used is transparent ( for viewing right??)but in real is black for reflection inwards)

Actualy 2 days in the running I do have a bit of growth yes.
Have to find a way to attach a fan of some sort to the system as it seems to be getting real hot with those 4 bulbs.
Dont want algae soup now do we??
Will post some pics later today

ok first week is up.
Time to clean the screen for the first time.
Had some growth not sure if this is standard amount but I hope Mister SantaMonica will give some more comments on the amount and the kind of growth.
Good or no good and maybe how to adjust.
Thanks

need some advise

Scrubber as posted above was working very well with about a tennis ball on algea every7 days
Now though
I had to change the design as saltwater and crystals screwed up my electronics resulting in my sockets getting burned.
So had to built a whole new casing for the lighting.
This took about 4 days in which time my scrubber was running with no extra lighting.
Now what to do can I use the same screen or would it be advisable to start a whole new setup so making a new screen and all?
How would this effect the system starting everything new?
Please advise

If you tank is going good, don't change it.
