View Full Version : ATS for a reef tank 435G
Hi Santamonica. Im making this mega tank, and i'd like to try the ATS... as far i know i could get 60cmx20cm nets, so i'd have 1200 cm2 of area... but i understand that i need about 2800cm2, so if i get 3 nets of this dimensions, could i get the same result?
I'd like your recomendation in here for my tank. I think i wont use skimmer as im using the ATS. I hope the ATS to be my solution about this matter.
I read all your recomendations for small tanks, but i'd like your recomendation for big tanks.
I am fron Latin America, its very difficult to get the T5HO, what other lights would you recommend besides the CFL lights? They must be with the same design of the T5HO for a better handling.

Yes, if they have enough wattage.
They must be with the same design of the T5HO for a better handling.
Use several CFL bulbs, spread out across the screen. You need at least 217 total watts for average filtering, or 435 watts for high filtering. Use 23 watt cfl bulbs. 10 of them will be 230 watts, or, 20 will be 460 watts.
Is this quantity (217 total watts for average filtering and 435 watts for high filtering) needed to be spreaded all over the 3 net extensions or its just this quantity for each one?

Hi Santamonica, i'm about to start my aquarium... if i start with dead rock and the ats, what time i should wait before i start to get some fishes? If i put some few mollys for the growing process would it speed this time up?
Thank for your help.

Wait until ammonia and nitrite measure 0.
I don't think molly's will help, but I've not cycled many tanks.
