The first thing is: my best algae is growing where there is less flow. last week i cleaned the scrubber and noted where the flow was strong or week on my screen. I look at the scrubbers growth every day. and I am certain that the green algae is growing where there is less flow. where the water flow is strong i get a mix of dark brown and reddish algae with some green spotting. I know that i need to upgrade my lighting because i am running one 42 watt on each side of a 10"x16" screen. is this why i get better algae on the low flow spots? soon i will be doubling the light.

The second question is: I have been cleaning my scrubber every sunday(7 days) for the last few months but i never get that real thick growth that i see the sm100 produce,,i can see the light thru the screen. my screen is 10X16 so my scrubber should be good for a 160 gallon tank,,,,BUT my tank is 55 gallons total. how often would you clean this screen santa?

Always 7 days... 10 days max.

A 42 watts light should be about 6" from the screen, with a big wide reflector.

Seems fine, just let it go.

More smaller bulbs are better.
