Sulfates?

I was wondering if algae is known to consume sulfates? I have used magnesium sulfate or Epsom salt to get my magnesium up, however it's not recommended for long term use as sulfates will build up in the tank. However these rules are for normal non-scrubber tanks... I was wondering if my sulfates are being consumed by my scrubber?

I'm not aware of algae consuming any sulphates.
