No, it helps it.

Phosphate limited growth helps Coraline.

I have read medium light and some available nitrate may help it.
Calcium Gluconate is reported to possibly accelerate growth.

I have growth spurts and not entirely clear why.

I used to have very little coraline and I would sometimes look at my scrubber and wonder if my scrubber was the cause. After all, coraline algae is another form of algae right? Could have an issue competing for nitrients right? As it turned out, I wasn't testing for Magnesium back then and when I finally got a Mag kit, my mag was way low. Within a couple of weeks after I got the magnesium reading up, the coraline started to grow in nicely so I now know that my scrubber had nothing to do with it. Try that idea along with making sure your calcium and alk are at the accepted normal ranges. If all three are testing OK, take in a water sample to your LFS and have them check to see what their test kits say. The kits do go bad quite often apparently. Coraline needs all 3 of these parameters to be correct in order for it to thrive (as I eventually learned).

Good luck!

Coraline is reported to being tied to supersaturation of calcium.

Tanks with green rocks are taking up calcium at a rate under supersaturation that makes it difficult for coraline to grow. One way to supersaturate calcium is to make magnesium 1350 calcium 410 and alkalinity 140 ppm and then dose lime water on top manually.
