Over the last 2 weeks I have noticed that I was getting a lot more cyano in my main display. and this morning I saw a tiny piece of calupra growing on a rock. I have not had calupra in the system for years now! I don't care about the calupra but do you know any tricks or tweeks I can do to my scrubber to help beat back the cyano? I tried the lights off for 3 days and ALL the cyano is still there:( I feed flake & homemade frozen foods 3 times a day FWIW. I add 1 tsp. of Iron every time I clean scrubber FWIW
Cyano may take few tries to get rid of it.
After a quick clean up, you need to eliminate its food source, while replaing it with beneficial bacteria.
Food sources in an effectively run ATS might be DOC and phosphate spikes. Flakes are your main input for phosphate. Use frozen food thatbis thawed and rinsed only!
Cut back on fod a few weeks and dose iron gluconate and beneficial bacteria like Microlift Special Blend to digest or out compete cyano. I would consider Carbon for this period as well. I ron would prevent one limiting element In ATS growth.
I am in this process with good results so far. I suspect lower than typical nutrients can result in cyano as often seen with zeovit systems.

I had a little halimeda start, but it only lasted a bit.
I don't think caulurpa will get very far, if your scrubber is working.

Don't know.
Some threads I have read commented that either
Microbe Lift Special Blen or Zeobak/Coral Snow can sometimes work.
Othertimes 1 ppm nitrates will work. I think they are ways of biologically eliminating phosphates.
