Great article that mentions results of harvesting an ATS and risks of running non-detectable nitrate levels (Cyano). Public aquariums suggest a Redfield ratio of 40:1 to avert cyano blooms. They also suggested spiking 50 ppm potassium to abserve any beneficial effect on corals.

Just read it. Maybe someone can experiment with adding potassium (if everything else is working properly, of course).
They are suggesting potassium sulfate will add growth or coloration assuming all other paramters are nailed and potassium has been depleted a while. Practically it has been suggested that Monti Caps show potassium depletion first in growth rates and coloration. I am reluctant in that I would need baseline and real tests from atomic absorbtion test atleast once in awhile.
Practically he suggests adding 50 ppm and just observing results.
I was more interested in the idea of maintaining 0.03 phosphate and roughly 0.25 to 0.50 ppm nitrate for growth.
Author did not really say it directly but implies cyano is a natural succession that hopefully will not dominate tank.
I have FW plant experience that gives a different perspective.
I currently dose 2 ml of Iron Gluconate solution daily. ATS sped up and then slowed down. I am think of dosing Calcium Nitrate at 0.05 ppm nitrate per day to feed ATS and corals. Knowing Hanna Phosphate is 0.03 or less. I may start in few weeks and observe results in 3 weeks or bump up or discontinue.
Any one try this?
Fish are well fed already and very healthy.
