RAIN mounting
This customer mounted his RAIN2 (tm) scrubber on a 1" grey pvc pipe on the right side, into which he added a 1" bulkhead to attach to the RAIN2 drain. The bottom of the grey pipe has holes for water to go out. You can't see what is holding the pipe up, but it is probably an end cap cemented to a plate.
The RAIN2 is fed water by flexible tubing attached to some pvc fittings, which feed into the 1" black waterfall pipe which you can't see inside the dome lid.

This RAIN2 sets on rails across the top of the sump. But as you can see from the size of the drain pipe, the drain could have been the mount instead.

Since the RAIN2 (also the RAIN4) has submersible lights that can be lowered down to the waterline, it frees up all the space above it. And since the optional pole mount for the RAIN2 (included with the RAIN4) uses only a 2" vertical pole, all the remaining space below it is available for sand, rock, media, pumps, or fish. And no shelf needed at all!

RAIN2 (tm) down low low low to the water line. Dead silent because no dropping of water. Unaffected by rising sump water. And you can lift the whole unit out with one hand to take to your sink if needed.

RAIN2 waterfall scrubber, first eight weeks in newly cycled saltwater tank.
Note that this particular one is mounted on a 1 inch vertical pipe in the sump, which uses the included 1 inch adapter to fit up into the bottom of the RAIN2 tray (this is not the same as the optional 2 inch pole mount)
The black case blocks all red light. And red light is used because it grows the most.

Algae scrubbers, otherwise known as "chaeto killers" because of the high filtering capacity compared to chaeto reactors, have the fastest and strongest rate of removal of nutrients from aquarium water of any type of natural algal filtration. All natural reefs, lakes and rivers are naturally filtered by algae.
The RAIN2 is the smaller RAIN, available with 1, 2 or 4 of our GEM5 (tm) lights.
The RAIN (tm) waterfall algae scrubber is the first new design from anyone anywhere since we introduced the first waterfall design in the year 2008. Back then it was simply designed to fit under the tank that we had at the time. It took a lot of time to remove and clean, and had other issues, but it was not for sale so it did not matter.
Since then all waterfall designs for sale by anyone have copied that design. That original design was ok at the time (you can find it posted on forums by searching "waterfall turf algae filter cheap and easy to build santamonica forum"
Well, now it is 2021 and almost all the shortcomings of that original waterfall design have been overcome with our new patented (10,655,095) RAIN designs. From the Green Grabber® 3D printed screen, to the underwater submersible and safe low-voltage (but high wattage) UL listed GEM5® lights, to the optional pole mount super low space requirement mounting system, we really hope you like the RAIN2.

This RAIN2 is set up high on the optional pole mount, so that it can be lifted off the mount and taken out with one hand. No lifting dripping screens out of a box; no disconnecting fittings; and zero chance of electrical shorts with the GEM5 lights.

This RAIN2 waterfall scrubber looks to be slightly below the waterline in the saltwater sump, which is fine because its GEM5 lights are submersible and can go to the bottom of the sump if needed.

This RAIN2 (tm) waterfall scrubber is sitting on a pole mount in a saltwater sump. If you wanted to run the tank as a natural reef with lots of food particles in the water for the corals to eat, you could remove the roll filter, or the skimmer, or both.
