tomorrow will post the finish version of the fiberglass
this is the finish version
hopefully i will get the glass cut tomorrow and will be adding that
Glass?
so the lamps dont get wet
there is 9 of themQuote:

have to rethink as i cant get my hand in to glue glass so going to make 2 perpex box for the screens and lamps go in box so when i need to change lamps i take
out the perpex box
Remember too that the glass facing the screen will get wet and will need to be cleaned. If you can't reach that surface you will have a problem.
thats y i am changing abit as i have 3in of space in the perpex box easy to clean and easy to replace lampsQuote:

So the acrylic box will have it's outer face facing the water and will be easy to clean once it's removed. Great!
Was going to do it the other way put the screens in the perpex box then when i clean the screens i clean the box what do you thinkQuote:

Had to do some mod on the box as i could not glue the glass in place as soon as i get the rest i will post it so you can see :)
this is what i was waiting on any comments plz let me know i will start building it tomorrow ;)
So let me try to get this straight..
You are going to glue in the glass boxes?
The screens hang in the glass boxes?
How does the water get out of the glass boxes? Out thru the holes in the bottom? How do you seal the glass holes to the fiberglass box holes in a functional dependable manner?
How do you get your hand into the inside of the glass boxes to clean their soon to be fouled  inside faces?
You are also going add more acrylic boxes to hold the lamps?
the acrylic box will be removeable and there will be holes at the bottom with tank connections for the outletsQuote:

i have started scubber on sunday how long before you see growth as mine is just light brown in colour the screen
Hard to say as there are so many variables.
Flow
Intensity
nutrient levels
tank lighting
tank competition for nutrients
available algae species existing in the tank
Everywhere from about 2 or 3 days to a week to see something.
Screen roughness is proving to be most important in getting fast growth now, and thick growth later. Followed by strong flow and light.
clean it to day 7 days now this is what it looks like
this is my second week just did a clean tell what you all think
Looks good.
Hi all this is third week this is what it looks like
i notice that the screen is not as roughed up as i thought will wait on my new one when i clean it all comes off
Are you removing the screen from the pipe for cleaning? You need to, so that the slot stays open.
no i am not will do the next time
can i clean the other screen tomorrow ?Quote:

Clean the whole thing this time, and use a toothbrush to clean the slot. Also use the toothbrush to get really clean the part of the screen that goes into the slot; this will make it grow back slower there.
thanks Av8bluewaterQuote:

Hi all long time just had time to start my new screen its 4 days an i am doing a clean
is it ok let me know
Can some one tell me what as these Plz
Screen growth looks great for 4 days. That's why you want a rough screen... it holds on to algae better, and so it grows faster without letting gow. I'll use that pic as an example of how good a rough screen can grow.
The things you see are Tunicates (or "sea squirts"). They need lots of food particles and flow, and that's what your tank is providing. You should also be able to grow sponges.
Thanks i am going to let it run what type of sponges?Quote:

Red ones can be more trouble.

2)clean one today and the next one next week
the 7days rule
1) means they get clean every 7 days
2) means one screen 7days and the next one 14 days
can some one let me know which one to do ? :?
Try cleaning one every 5 days. But if they are brown, do 4 or 3 days, until green.
just clean ater 5days Screen 1 2nd week
Fabulous!!
I'm so jealous..
Wow that is great. Glad to know that I still know how to make screens.
next screen will be clean tomorrow
2nd Screen 2nd week after 6days
i am having problems getting 270k pl-l lamps 4pin so i am trying 300k ones is that ok ?
Wow, what a ton of algae.
How large is your tank / bioload?
Yes 3000k are good
Verry impressive mate..well done - excelent output
i have made my scrubber and its very similar to yours.
Difference is that my box is plasic - painted black on the outside
and the ligths are attached on the side - 8 of them
ill post some pics on a new threat later today... and i hope will work as good as yours cos i have a real problem since i removed my nitrate reactor and phos media
my dilimma as follows:
cant decide what material to use for the screen
1. a very rought - up plastic one as yours
OR
2. the plastic mesh thing used in this scrubber - see link below...

Can you please advice where to get the wireing and electric work for that through a webshop? Where I live (top of the globe) you don't get to buy stuff like that for less than a fortune :p
Alternativly, if you please could post the specific names of the parts.
Thanks in advance
sorry for the delay as i was away at work i am a Electrician i got all my bits from workQuote:

have a problem these brown things keep coming on screen and then it goes in main tank
does any one knows y and it has a high smell to it
when you start cleaning in as if its will knock you out i have to get fresh air so strong just start doing it
the main tank has brown hair alage in it when i clean the screen it goes in 4-5 days the scrren has this brown coat on it as in picture
Try adding some iron, like Kent's Iron + Manganese. Should make the yellow turn green.
You don't want to increase flow if the screen is already letting go of things.
i see these growing on my rocks do you know y please
Can't tell what they are. But they are sure to go away with the rest of the nuisance algae.
Hi mate,
Whats going on with your ATS?
Is everything ok?

Thanks ShanGo,
I have a friend thats an electrician and i will show him the bulbs and he will also do the elecrical part on my new setup. Whats the other things attached to the out side called?
Im planning to use 4 x 54watts 4 pin bulbs on my 18inch x 12inch screen (2 on each side).
The things on the out side is the ballast, one of them takes two lampsQuote:

As already said im trying to figure the best possible design for my system. Im between the lights you are using and HOT5 but the problem with them is that i cannot find any stronger than 24watts 60cm.
Any suggestions / advice?
i am happy with my ATS and the resultsQuote:
