Any input?
Just trying to see options to get me 14 days before cleaning without losing effectiveness of UAS.
I want to clean my UAS after 14 days but I noticed the flow in the drain line from my UAS box is getting slower and slower as it past 7 days or so,because the algae on my screen gets really thick....
Ok. Thanks guys....I did not buy it yet...just took pictures from home depot yesterday and I will pass on this one.
There are 4 led bulbs on top and it says 6 watts, does it mean 1.5 watts per led? Also the equivalent watt is 30 . Are you saying the led must be red and not white, so this is a no go for my UAS?...
Oooppps. My feeding is about 2 cubes / day..thanks
Will this led bulb works for my UAS current setup? It seems like the watts is not enough. Thanks for any feedback.
Current set-up:
25 sq in screen
Double sided
2 CFL bulb 23 watts 27000k

The algae is totally green and bond strong to the screen, I have to use a good scrapper to remove...okay thanks
I normally wait 2 weeks before cleaning....what is the norm? That's why the algae goes really thick and long.
Just an update... I noticed that every two weeks of harvest,my UAS box is covered with algae everywhere including location I don't want algae to be.....so I painted the bottom and sides just enough...
looks good
Very nice
Nice......very neat
very well....keep it coming
Thanks....picture of the whole acrylic UAS assembly and top view of UAS bubbles inside box
I know. Unbelievable!!!!! You guys nailed this UAS system....thanks
My screen was brand new from my ATS (since I am following the new guidelines and made my screen smaller) and it got seeded for 10 days and never got the chance for the first harvest when I converted...
Finally decided to convert my ATS to UAS and it's a minor tweak to my ATS system. All I have to do is flood by ATS box, set the screen above the anchor bubbler and convert the drain pipe from the...

Yup...looks good also he got some Algae scrubber videos on you tube including a spinning scrubber
Do you know what airstone and pump combination Ruddybop's is using?
Thank you SM, you are the man. I will report after 14 days
what about number of days before cleaning ..... is 7 days okay?.....thanks again
Thanks SM for the quick response. Now I know I am in good shape.

It's been 2 years that I got into scrubbing but what I followed that time was the old guidelines. Now it seems the new guidelines can get you to a very small screen size and lots of feeding. Can I go...
thanks for the advice, I will see next week on what adjustment I can do
2 weeks of scrubbing with my ATS box shows a bald spot in the middle which is common when using spiral bulb. I will keep addding Kent iron + manganese and see what it will bring next week, otherwise...
Okay I know what you are saying but it's not applicable to me anymore because it's done already, they are all the same height. I read the whole thread back in 2009 when I was doing my overflow but...
I believed the 1/4 hole beibg suggested is to allow air to come out so that the water will flow on the pipe wall and get 100 % full siphon. Anyways the cut elbow is exactly you said to be not close...
I see what you are saying about momentary loss siphon when removing from the tank but it is so quick though to flood the box and return siphon and that is not my concern. In regards to the 3 street...
the lip of my overflow box is totally flat, giving it a little angle in the mid-section will make the water to rush in to the weir without dropping my tank level. When this overflow is tuned properly...
I've been using this overflow (without ATS) for 2 years now and I don't see any difference in flow with the ATS installed. I got so much flow going on there even just using 1" pipe and it is quiet...
inside ATS, bulbs are about 3 inches from the screen and the screen box allow flooding inside about 1+ inches of water, the whole box is dry where the reflector and bulb are located. When servicing, I...
more pictures, flow is coming from my Fail Safe Silent overflow from RC member Beananimal design
Finally got my hand to build the scrubber box I wanted. Screen size is 9" wide x 8" high for my 40 gallon breeder and the box size is 12" deep, 14" wide and 9" tall. My bulbs are 30 watts 27K and...
That is great .....thanks again SM, I cannot wait to build this baby in the next month or two
To all pls comment if my specs are not right on...thanks. I have a temporary ATS for now and I will be building my permanent one this spring.
Just to confirm my specs again for my 40 gallon DT...
Thank you SantaMonica, I will start removing things this weekend.
here are the pictures of my scrubber. I still have to move the light a little closer and move the screen away from the divider. Right now I still have the skimmer running on first chamber of the sump...
I just finished my scrubber today and now running, pictures to follow. Right now I run it to my 40 breeder and my scrubber size is 10 x 8 with single light for now but I will put the other one...
