What I still believe (and see in my tank) is that when the algae (types) in the scrubber has a faster growth ability then the ones in the DT, the DT algae will eventually die-off and vanish.

Thnx garf.. computer sciences.. but he that's not as interesting as the spare time investigation in biology :)
For now not done any waterchanges, but maybe I will go forward doing a major one.
...
@Garf: correct, I use 50w LED + 48 watt T5 ever since..
The salt I used is from Red-Sea.
Just an up-date on the past months:
After a huge plague of aiptasia, which I overcame with the help of...
just fantastic!
Sponge is almost a plague in my ATS tank...
Every low light space, like between the rocks, is taken by white sponge.. some `tunnelsī Iīve build in the scape are completly filled by sponge. even in...
The simple fact is that detrius is part of the feeding cycle we replicate where the ATS is the base controling component.. the other "controls" are the additives..
so itīs a matter of getting all...
Maybe ā route like the planted tanks:

I recently had a discussion with a micro biologist (funny fact I found later: the inventor of biopellets) , he also more or less brought up this subject.. after some exchange of ideas, he came with...
Appart from the P level, any noticeable differences? Coloration/pe/growth/..
Just Stunning! Your animals look very happy.
Like the sponge culture.
Like the discussion and the opinions about K.
But how about incorporating potassium rich food in the mix, like banana's ? could it keep up?
I bumped into this research which is related:...
below <400nm is discussed here:

Just amazing looking colors kotlec!
What you do too keep them like that?
Thanks for these pics! Amazing!
Stil going strong..
Evolved over time..so here a new result movies.
This is my last harvest from last weekend.. about 2 weeks growth:

beautifull fish.. Still like the FW fishies :)
I feed 2 times the equivalent of 3 cubes DIY food a day (so about 6 to 7 in total) not too much stock (2 cardinals, striped hawaian surgeon, mini wrase, cleaner schrimps, pepermint schrimps and some...
Sometimes when i'm lazy on the cleanings the water colors up green/brownish..but my main "issue" was the build-up of particles in the water column.. which builded up that much that they were very...
The advantage I think for this solution is there are also bubbles going upstream on the waterfall,
Which kicks growth..also much quicker dense green growth. And the algae strains have become...
Sadly to say my copperband has got his sailors grave..he stopped eating just so..I tried to get him on froze food, by supplying live an frozen..but he stopped taking both live and frozen.
Sadly also...
After first cleaning with air..day 12 .. Also filmed my bubble trap in request..

Hm om sorry but I have been thinking about co2 also for a long time.
And maybe this is worth a try, because I think the theory might work:
Add air when the scrubber lights are off, and add co2 when...
Of go for T5's..

Just an idea, I've ordered on of those: http://www.fish-street.com/nano_dosing_pump
just too see what it's like.
Specs look quite well. Slowest mode is 6 ml / hour which reflects to 0,1 ml/minute...
My e-shine LED grow fixture seems to do a good job.
When you browse around here, you'll find that 660nm LED's will work well. So when that requirement is met, you'll probably be fine.
Thanks for that info Garf..seem to make sense.
Depending on the planned size of your screen, but I would go for the UAS. About the size of floyds would work well on that sized tank. Have you seen his growth after just 2 weeks? Quite easy too...
Whaaaaat!! how insanely cool is that..*i'm not jealous..i'm NOT jealous*
Very curious to see that!
Yes that would work, but it's just the air that is making the water flow, so just an air pump is more plancton/living food friendly..
New vid, growth day 13..
Maybe it does something ;)

Looking good so far!
What lighting have you planned?
Welcome here :D
As stated before, I like your designs very much. Well though off and I think will perform..Too add a lid seems like a good idea.
Yup, I can silence it completely by turning down the overflow ballvalve. But this is more reliable and I think helps in my growth.
Forgot too mention 7 days growth in that video

Very getto, but this was my first trail.. You can see how much more algae there are grown around where the air is added.....
For anyone with an exsisting scrubber:
I came with this:
Raise the water level in de scrubber box a bit (approx total of 5 cm) and add air..See the results for your selfs..
My air bubbles even...
Ok I came up with something I call, best of both worlds..
I did the folowing:
In my waterfall, I added about 3 cm PVC on top of my outflow to slightly raise the waterlevel inside.
So about 30%...
Very Nice Kerry! Thanks a lot for sharing! Looks nice and healthy.
Dark growth usually means more light is needed.
High nitrates turn your screen dark. But I was wondering while reading trough this topic, did you replace your skimmer with a scrubber (on an...
That's impressive growth kerry!
Will you share a tank shot?
I know.. I've got me a Chelmon Rostratus for that, but he/she's not very willing yet..
So might go looking for other alternatives soon..
I've increased feeding..
Last cleaning: 10 days growth

Maybe you've got a very fair point there Ace.
If you look at fora which SPS systems are most succesfull are almost all (fully) automated..In case off a scrubber that would mean adding a...
Oh yes love this discussion already ;)
Found Some interesting article stating:
"Alkalinity level appears to be a critical factor in SPS coloration. Normal seawater level of 2.5meq/l does not seem...
Thanks very much..
The outflow I will take picutres of very soon..I'm a bit busy lately with work..
@Jaseon, Thanks, Haarlem is a nice city, and close too Amsterdam..

Thank allot for the input so far..

Thanks Julio,
I'm very curious what is your experience of the plus to add this plenum to the system..
Hi Guys,
Oke it seems like I have bleeching issues...I've lost most of my stoney corals in about 4 weeks time (mid feb / mid march)..without changing anything though..
They all started too bleech...
