Funny you say the bulbs....this started just about the time i replaced my cfl bulbs. I bought the same 2700K bulbs that i had before. I wonder if something is up with them. I'll put the old bulbs...
Ok...so I have had this scrubber set up on a 125 fresh tank for one year now, and it has been working flawlessly. About two months ago the algae started growing in the water only and no more on the...
I was wondering if running a UV sterilizer on my fresh tank would interfere with my scrubber's function. It would be set up as a system completely independent of the scrubber (not inline with the...
Here's a chronological progression of algae growth..... At week 6 there is no more hair algae growing... I am only getting the green snot type now. (thats the technical term for it, right?) As of...
Ok. My scrubber has been set up on my 125 fresh tank for a bit.
My nitrates and ammonia are zero (which is great, as my well water is 35ppm nitrates, so water changes aren't helping). I am,...
Coming along nicely. Fish are going in tomorrow.
More Progress, 3 days later.....still no fish, ammonia only.
Yes...to the point of almost shredding it. As you stated, a holesaw is by far the best way to do that.
And currently, all the algae that's starting is in those scratches.
Well, its been two weeks of fishless cycling with ammonia and algae is starting. :D
Thanks. There's no salt as this is a freshwater tank.
I am wondering if adding ammonia to get the nitrogen cycle started in both the scrubber and a seeded canister filter is the correct way to...
I'm performing a fishless cycle on a new freshwater tank. I have a new scrubber and also a canister running on it. I would eventually like to just run the scrubber, if possible.
The tank has been...
Here you go.....
Ok Here's some pics. On day two theres a slight brown haze on the sides of the screen but not the middle. I backed the bulbs off a bit.
My scrubber is up and running as of yesterday.
Question..(and I cant remember reading this anywhere) should I leave the lights on constantly until I see growth and then cycle them? If yes, then...
Drilled the overflow holes for the scrubber..Whew...Stressful!!!!! ...but success! :D Nothing like drilling a new tank.
Thanks! Yes, shielding for the upper part is in the works. But, no salt creep as this is for a native fresh tank. ;) I'll post pics of the shielding when its in place.
I had a chance to mess with this again tonight. So, here's rev2 ..I replaced the holes in the top tube with screen and it performs much better...much quieter and no spray. I can start gluing it up...
Thanks! Yup.....there are two lights in that pic. (I have studied the scrubber scriptures closely :D)
I managed to get water running through this tonight. (Don't mind the saran wrap blocking the...
Well, after reading all I could find about scrubbers, I have a prelim design for what I want. This is for a new 125.
My main concern is... ease of removing the screen for cleaning, since this...
