Pee eye see tee you are e S! We need dem.
There is a type of acrylic for signs that is white on one side and black on the other. The object is to allow someone to route out the white side just down to the black to create very high contrast...
How about a picture of what we have to work with. There are so many variables it's hard to even start somewhere.
Those dividers are a lot more involved than I thought - looking at the pics!
Thanks for the detailed answers Ace.
Now where's my glass polisher....
Really nice build you have here Ace! This is exactly where I'm going. I have a few questions I hope you can provide answers for.
1) Any reason not to use silver or white paint? My thinking is...
SM; Yes I believe you can measure oxygen in a bottle with lab grade instruments. That said, the guy is all over the map. He knows what he knows and no-one is going to get thru to him. Trying to...
I've seen some pink yes. You still seem to be in dark-green territory and haven't turned the corner into the light green stuff.
Yes I can.. That's sort of what it's come down to. And it comes back in about a week and really starts building the second week.
Sounds like the ideal would be two screens so one can take a week...
!!!!! It's what I've always had!
But how, HOW do you harvest it? Trying to cut some off is just like you'd imagine would happen if you tried to cut some of the top off of Ice Plant. It just...
That is a nice idea. Over flow out of one end of the tank, let the water slide to the other end of the sump. Nice.
Make it so a single 3 or 4 foot fluorescent tube runs down the middle and...
I was afraid you'd ask that.. :D
They do have various fittings but most are not 90 or 45. You'd probably have to make something up.
Thoughts?
None! Since so little information is provided.
Gee, with that narrow aspect ratio I doubt it will have much trouble with diking. Great idea!
This same thing could be done with white or brown plastic gutter down-spout which is square. That...
AlgaeN; The titles change with number of postings. I'm kind of in the no-mans-land there. If you want yours to change you need to post more!
Update Star Date 20100217
The...
Thanks for the info.
So that thing just vibrates the hole saw? It doesn't rotate?
WOW that easily exceeds the life of any other tank I've ever heard of. Congrats.
A very good piece of advice.
I will add that if you go out and buy a GFI outlet get only Hubbell or Leviton brands. They cost only a few dollars more than the junk brands.
IF everything looks dead then clean it. If it looks salvageable then run with it for a day.
Alternatively clean half of it off.
Looks like pretty good stuff.
Nice clean design. Well done. Well thought out.
Black sure photos bad.. :|
No matter how you cut it horizontal or vertical scrubbers end up with water spritz hitting everything around. Those lead to growth where you don't want it. You also always have some noise from...
If you turn it with a gear motor like a rotisserie then balance is not important. You could strap a brick on one side.
I suspect the right speed would be whatever it takes to have the algae out...
Nice clean look to your tank.
Now you just need a school of a hundred Neon Tetras. :D
Will do.
Yes AlgaeNator. The GHA has gotten thicker and spread some more. Nitrates are still pegged over 100ppm.
Cool! Thanks for the pics!
Remember go for warmer white on the bulbs. 2700K or there about.
Moss Beach south of SF?
This would definitely be a good app for LEDs as all other lighting sources would couple horridly with a cylinder. Picture a bulb over it. Only a narrow strip would be brightly lit while all the...
Move it back until it covers the whole screen and try it.
Looks to nice to use for a fish poop filter!
Nice SM.
Well.. You can clearly over-watt algae. I don't know at what level though.
That size heat sink would be enough for 100W especially if you have a fan moving the air correctly past the fins.
You...
People have talked about it but I've not seen one.
They would have a lot of advantages if they could be made to work.
Give it a shot.
Desperately want a picture...
Nice. Doesn't look cheap when I think what my Vertical cost and that included NO labor.
Yeah thanks!
Me tooooooo.
When I took the picture I had to turn off my pump and water flow. Then I took the pictures and promptly got multiply interrupted and had to go to town. I came back...
Not sure why you wouldn't use standard acrylic solvent. Costs only pennies and there is no guess work. Also no obvious joints just the same.
UPDATE: Alrighty! Here's an update on the Turf Starter I picked up from AlgaeNator.
After a week or so, the Starter Sheet I mounted at the top of my horizontal screen has really started growing....
Thanks Agold.
I have seen that same process and never thought it thru completely.
Here's a picture of the algae starter. It's the third day.
I can see that it's increased by about 2X since it was put in. I can also see that it is now leaking off the material and starting to...
Go ahead. We'll watch over your shoulder. :D
No it should not be an issue. If you put one in front of a scruber I would expect the scrubber to take a long time to start up.
Keep us posted.
UPDATE:
You may remember I was doubting the validity of my nitrate test kit so I procured a Salifert Test Kit.
Drum roll...............
Andromeda Strain.
That is a most lurid bright green!
Damn! KIDULT; I just realized your stand is painted lavender!! I love it!
I painted mine International Orange but after seeing yours I wish I'd painted it your color. 8-)
I would scale down the CU crew until you see a need for them.
Your turf scrubber won't do much until you get some nitrate going. I'd probably not bother to light the the scrubber until you get...
6400k light? Should be lower like 2700K.
