The Dazs thing does look just like the hydor rotating cover thing.
The rotating eductor thing looks interesting, but based on the video I think you might need a higher back pressure rated pump. ...
This seems like a good option on a sump system, thinking if one could be really small on an All In One system (back wall sump).
Hey, how do you harvest without ripping out the ribbons you glued on...
Forget the iron nail. Use GFO if you need to absorb phosphate, use seachem flourish iron or similar if your algae is iron limited.
Try a soak in Oxyclean and a rinse of RO/DI. The OxyClean (with no additives), makes a high pH, hydrogen peroxide solution; wax shouldn't stand a chance.
Hey, maybe you can regen the GAC with an ozone generator:

I don't know that you would culture (on what medias) and count and apply that to an aquarium. Wouldn't it be better to somehow isolate from the atmosphere and measure the oxygen consumption of a...
Hmm, vertical dump bucket scrubber. Could use it for wave action too...
50 ml vinegar per day. It's just carried in with a gallon of RO/DI and 2 teaspoons of kalk...
I think you can pump through a closed bottle. Pump -> tube to bottom of bottle, just above kalk layer -> tube with inlet up high -> sump. It might be a pain to get it not to dust cloud up the...
Nice find Garf, here are the instructions:

I think you can use this kit to digest (convert all phosphorous to orthophosphate) your tank...
Maybe just add a bag of those Algagen Tisbe copepods...
That's actually an Oceanic biocube, but we're talking about the JBJ 28 nano cube. The rear sump chamber(s) are setup differently, and I don't think that waterfall type design would work as easily on...
Hi,
I have the same tank and have been thinking about trying an ATS in it too. My question is here:
http://algaescrubber.net/forums/showthread.php?2210-ideas-for-JBJ-28g-scrubber
You can see...
One cubic centimeter equals one milliliter, and one cubic centimeter of water weighs one gram.
There is a post in the nano forums on reefcentral for the JBJ 28g, where they are using a CCAS. But they are doing it out of necessity more than choice, it's a natural fit for this particular nano...
I think that is called countercurrent, so maybe CCAS?
Just wanted to point out that there is a good posting for an ATS on a JBJ 28g over on the reefcentral Nano forums.

I'm planning to do...
Wow, so if you used PWM dimming LED driver, and set it to 50% for 24 hours, you would get about the same photosynthesis as a 12 hour light / 12 hour dark combination? But the main difference is that...
It seems like you would want to provide more features than just on/off light timing on the ATS:
-on/off timer
-PWM(blink vs. current) LED dimming
-tunze silence 1073 controllable feed pump...
I think it's from here:

The maintenance on just the QT systems alone must be a 2 or 3 person job...
I don't think you can just dissolve it in acid and test. There are some acid, heat, persulfate and/or UV digestion procedures that are used to do some conversion to measurable N and P; but I think...
So they guy in the rc thread is skimming and using GAC. It still seems to be driving bacteria though; like bio pellets, vinegar, vodka, sugar, etc... I think you would have to use a skimmer with...
Hmm...
At the end of their FAQ, they have this:
Diseases
My aquarium has gone pink?
If you have an existing disease in your tank, when you place The Water Cleanser in the tank, it will go...
Feed the ATS directly with water from a calcium reactor setup with no media. The calcium reactor (or any inline CO2 injector) should use less CO2 by dissolving it more efficiently into the water...
So there are bacteria locked up in this wax block that are eating organics from the water column, where is their waste going? Where do the bacteria go when they die? Is all their waste and their...
Someone recently posted success with a cyano scrubber on rc, thread 2229534, in the Advanced Topics. It's a balled up wad of plastic screen, used to keep fish from jumping out of open top, placed in...
It's Aragocrete, right?
Like they talk about here:

The Perlite is a great idea to make it lighter for walls...
I wonder if you could cast an algae scrubber...
So if you had fed this ATS from your drain instead of a dedicated pump, the pump build-up failure would not have happened? Assuming that a drain fed system would be as controllable?
Waste water remediation, yes. Drinking water purification, please give me a submicron membrane, GAC and some UV...
Hmm, Google confirms:
(1 cm x 1 cm x 1 cm) to milliliters
into the Google search and it says it's equal to 1 milliliter
All hail the Google.
If you happen to revive this master plan, maybe use this as a standard fertilizer:

I've just recently started reading back through threads on this site, but does anyone remember any tests where a screen is maintained with good growth based just on fertilizing an empty tank with a...
Ok, I just tested the bubbles in the display issue by hooking up a small air pump and tubing. I just had the open ended tubing bubbling into the center overflow chamber, and no bubbles made their...
I thought the P was continuously being converted between Phosphate, organic Phosphorus molecules and biomass. Since the test kit is only able to show Phosphate levels, anytime the P is converted,...
Hi All,
I'm just starting up a saltwater JBJ 28g nano-cube CF, just water and gravel at the moment, but planning on reef with a couple small corals, inverts and fish. I really like the idea of...
