    Yay, 4000th post!

Another milestone, 4,000 posts (ok, so technically I made the 4000th one by posting this, but they're mostly SantaMonica of course - keep up the good work :D).

Good to know others have had success with this method, I've been looking at getting one of these tools for a little while now.
  4. Re: How to roughen a screen in 5 min. w/o much effort

Great idea, I've seen those advertised, looks like it's done a great job, did it tear anywhere? I presume you had to hold it pretty lightly.

  5. Re: Scrubbers and Copper treatments (and absorbtion)

After prolonged use of copper in a tank (12 weeks!) it does appear to affect the algae, it seems to take 3-4 weeks to have a noticeable affect then the good green algae seem to die off.
    For shorter...

    Hey guys,
Looking into this at the moment, there's nothing obvious so far, I moved the site on to a nginx instead of Apache, but I've not had any similar issues with other PHP sites.

You need roughly 1 Watt of compact fluro bulbs (not equivilant) per US Gal shared between the two sides, so you need 60w either side of CFL bulbs, plus some sort of reflector.

Don't forget we measure lighting Watts in Compact Fluorescent Watts for algae scrubbers, not equivalent Watts. E.g. I have around 150W of actual Watts of CFL bulbs on one side of screen for mine.

The idea is that the air is pulled down to stop the Durso from siphoning, so the air will go all the way down. If regulated properly it will be very quiet.

Re: single weir , doubble stand pipes and durso

    I personally use a 1 weir - 2 Durso setup.
It's not ideal, but after a little tweaking it seems reliable, and pretty quiet. But another option may be better, or maybe a larger single Durso instead.
