Great tank!!!
Wooooow! Very nice tank. Love the setup of the sump and algae filter.
This gives me an idea...I knew if I kept that old miracle mud filter box long enough it would come in handy some day.....time to get creative!
lol
so do u feed as recommended or less with no skimmer?[/quote]
I feed what the fish load can handle, about 4 cubes right now. The scrubber grows algae accordingly. Never had an issue.
Just do it for a month and if you dont like the results you can turn it back on. In the mean time you can clean it and get it ready to sell. ;)
Tank looks great. Would also like to see more pics and info on your setup.
cant wait to see this one
Nice looking setup all around. Really like the "V" idea. Tank is nice and healthy looking !
Had this question in a different area in this forum, thought I would try it here. . . Anyone tried this while running an ATS? Lately I have seen some talk about dosing it directly ot the display to...
Anyone tried this while running an ATS? Lately I have seen some talk about dosing it directly ot the display to help control diatom outbreaks with some success. I have also seen threads around...
I run a sump pwrhd also.
need some pictures if you have any
Great job!
awesome find!
I wont go into detail here on the "before" because I have a thread or two that details my start and finish. The short story is I ran a scrubber for apprx 2 years with great results. Took hair algae...
I feel ya on this issue. While I have a lot of respect for the primary posters on this board, I will disagree with them on your problem. There are many areas that could be giving you grief in your...
I like that! Well done
My tank is a 75 gallon and I am runnig three 150 watt DE MH 14K and one actinic T5
Looks great, could you post a video of how you clean it?
Take the filter socks off, they just catch all the pods yer gonna be producing, as well as any food for your corals/fish
I agree with that 100%. I need to go back to target feeding more frequently. I kind of got away from it because of all the food particles in teh water. I used to target feed all the time to cut...
Cant wait to see pics of the setup .
Thanks again. I use the original chemipure. NOT the chemipure plus or whatever its called. Now the why. Awhile back I was given a "corky finger" gorgonian by a friend. It did really well in teh...
Looks like a great start, waiting for more pictures!
Thanks...the gorgonian shows signs of life. Just not getting a 100% extension yet. Funny thing is some frags from the shipping bag have started encrusting the rock where I put them. These have...
15 minutes without water might cause some drying effects as well. The lights can dry things out pretty quickly.
I have always called it "Anthelia" . It doesn't grow a stalk like xenia. They are in the same family though.
Thanks for looking.
Here are th updated pics. These are from tonight.

Just trying different camera settings. . . I know I...
Thanks for the kind words everyone. I could not be more pleased with the results of the algae scrubber. Well I guess if it cleaned itself I could be more pleased. Still its not bad.
I...
That exchange is comical. He is clearly spouting opinion, has no experience with the ATS in the discussion and apparently a closed mind. I feel bad for the guy.
I have kind of changed my mind on this also. I am thinking about changing from one normal size to two smaller screens rated at 2/3 of capacity each. This way I can use the same pumps I already have...
Looks like a neat design. However you are going to need to rough up that screen. Being smooth like that is not going to let the algae have something to hold on to.
Also do you just snap the bar...
Sounds a lot like what happened to me after a recent power stoppage. The pump i use did not restart after the outage and the screen dried up. I was busy with things and didnt check the tank for a...
Nope, mine is not roughed up next to the pipe. I still get algae growth up there but it comes off easy.
depending on how far your pushing the water, a maxijet 1600 would do it. I use one and it works great.
I have posted on here before but I wanted to give an update. I have been using a scrubber for a year. Started with a horizontal version and went vertical after problems with splashing and bubbles. ...
Yes you want to remove the sock. No need for it.
^^^
+1 on that statement
I have MM in a pre-scrubber installed refugium. I get cool things burrowing in it. Is it necessary ? No. But I used it to root some mangroves in and now I dont want to bother with removing it. I...
I am with you here but I think you need to move the sump wall closer to the back glass (3) inches or less and and use an outside fixure mounted lengthwise. The screen is facing the wrong way to...
An update on my success and faliure with non photo synth corals. The sun polyps never did take off, I only target fed once a week but they just never opened up during lights on and since I am an...
Hmmm. . . . how deep are the tiles submerged?
I would bet on the turf filter. But, then again I am a believer. . . . .
MMuuaahahahahaha. . . . exxxccellent!
My experience with a horizontal version was positive. . . however they are messier. LOTS of splashing and there needs to be more flow to get the same results as a vertical. I stopped and went with...
Sorry it took so long to reply. Thanks for the interest, the tank in the pictures is a 75gal RR AGA. I am currently running 3 - 150 watt 14K DE SPS/BlueLife bulbs and 2 - 54 watt T-5 w/ reflectors...
I did teh same thing, drilled holes, and it made a nice even flow across teh screen.
Wow that looks great. Are you gonna put reflectors behind teh bulbs?
Yeah I have read up on those. THere is a nice little one at the lfs here but it just seems pointless. You are right about no one being able to care for them long term. There are plenty of others...
Thanks SM. I am so glad I found your post way back on another forum. I wanted to mention that I have done some water changes since the ATS startup. I think the gorgs release a toxin that some...
