Back to my problem :) Ive tested the water, My Nitrate is less than 0.25 and my Phosphate is less than 0.03
I think I just need to keep feeding the same food and wait for the dyno to burn itself out...
I vac the sand with every water change.
I hope it stays on the scrubber..... If so scrubber saves the day once again. :)
The just seem to be some stringy bits in the tank that are getting stuck on things.
That second link seems very...
OMG, this stuff sinks like death. If this takes over the tank ill be crying.
How do I kill it?
Ill post my params at when i get the tests. Im using an API nitrate test that says it 0, but only goes up in 5s. And a selifet phos kit that just changes to the slightest blue colour which looks less...
Dino is covering the green algae on the screen that has not been cleaned and completely over the other one. There isnt too much in the display. But I wanna get on top before it become a problem.
...
Green algae in the display has almost all gone. But there are now small amounts of Dinoflagellates.
The scrubber screen is also covered in brown algae and Dinoflagellates.....
I think its...
Skimmers going off for a week or some. see what happens....
At the moment my sump was design for Chaeto, Bioball and then a mud refugium. Chaeto didnt work for me. I know it works for other.
As an experiment I made a little scrubber to sit on top of the old...
I think I need more light over the scrubber?
Okay so over my tank Ive got 2 T5s 50 watts each. And 28 Cree LEDs. My scrubber growth was slowing down. So as a test I turned my Cool White leds down...
Okay. so algae growth is slowing to a crawl. Should I stop the skimmer or the GFO or ween off them/one or the other with a timer?
Cheers
I love scraping off my scrubber. I cut a little piece of glass just for the occasion. Its like actually murdering the GHA. Unlike my old tank where I would pull my hair out of the tank while pulling...
from what I can tell, skimmers are half good and half bad. where as scrubbers are all good?
And i dont know if you US boys know that scrubber is a slang word for a Hoe in England. All these dirty...
I read this when it was new. Ive got a yellow tank thats 7+ years old. Only been running carbon for 2 years now. Always rinse it and ive never had a problem. So I think there is more to it that just...
Hes built one that looks a bit dodgy to me for one of his tanks. (skip to 7:45)

Is anyone using a scrubber on a koi pond??? Wondering how big a one sided screen would need to be? powered by the sun.
Pond is about 12 foot x 5 x 4.. im going to work out the vol.
Im slowly getting the faith.
Chaeto was working well for one of my old tanks. When i upgraded the Chaeto with killed off / stopped from growing by Cyano growing all over it.
The funny thing is I...
Thats sounds too perfect :) You've got the right idea though. My old tank was a 250 litre without a sump. was a nightmare to look after. a water change and new gfo every week just about kept the...
Oh, and I haven't done a black out or anything funny. Ive just left it all to get on with itself. 10% water change every month. There has been some algae die off and the CUC is just eating it faster...
Little update. Im slowly winning the war on Algae. Im still skimming and running GFO for now. Ive turned the skimmer right down to a dry skim though. Hope to be running them on a timer soon.

Doesnt all the air bubbles cause a scum on the water surface? (Like a skimmer)
Im cleaning one screen a week. So each screen gets scrapped ever other week.
Not getting loads off of it. But its keeping everything in check and doing the business.
Really starting to think...
I should say. Im new to scrubbers. But it seems to be working really well. its starved the cyano within 3 weeks. Just got the GHA in the display to deal with now.
As far as i know. Cree dont make 660 nm leds. So you'd needs osram or some others.
Ive got 5 warm white (3000k) 5 cool white (6500) and two blue (which im looking to replace with 2 660nm reds)
The other thing i was wondering, is what about GAC?
And what kind of water change routine are you doing?
So do you think it would be a good idea to set them on timers and reduce the time they're on over time?
Do you guys run GFO and a skimmer with your scrubber? Or do you just use Live Rock and a scrubber for filtration?
Do you guys run skimmers and GFO with your scrubbers? Or do they take over in the end??
A live rock / scrubber only reef would be amazing.
Quick update on the ATS. Here is one of the screens, ive pulled it out for its first cleaning. Im thinking ill clean them on alternate weeks.

Here is my rock now. Its still got a lot of Green...
I had the leds very close with lenses. This seemed to kill the algae so i moved them away.
I was wondering about red leds. Cree don.t make 660nm leds and i can't find another brand that make...
