    Re: Clarification from FAQ's

Let's remember, that this light spectrum we are interested in is relative to ALGAE. We shouldn't be to interested in what goes on with light in the Mariana Trench.

Algae needs Red light and Blue...

The energy spectrum is not necessarily a description of light reflection phenomena. Things are reflected due to the particle size (molecules, ions etc..) being smaller than the wavelength...

    Re: Clarification from FAQ's

    I disagree.

Try this trick. Take a Blue ink Pen and write a word on a piece of paper. Then take a red pen, and scribble all over the word, until you can no longer see the Blue word that you wrote....

    Re: Clarification from FAQ's

I don't think this is a correct assessment of what is taking place here.
    1. You see color of light because it is reflected back to your eye.
If it weren't reflected you wouldn't see it, in other...

    Re: Clarification from FAQ's

I am mathematician, so proving the why when we know the result is what it is all about :) -- Regardless, I also suspect it will reinforce what has already been tested and learned by the collective...

    CopePods

Do I have to "seed" the tank with Copepods in order to get them to grow on the Scrubber?

    ALGAE WHEEL!!!

OKay, I am about 80% finished with my build, on a my version of the SM100.

Then I started thinking about rotating the screen, on a wheel setup, sort of like a Biowheel filter. Well Lo and behold,...

    Re: Clarification from FAQ's

Well, Kelvin is easier to spell than centigrade, or fairenheight, or farenheight, or farhenhieght, or darn it all, see what I mean. :D This is why they standardized on Kelvin.

    Kelvin Color...

Re: Help with adding scrubber to turtle pond

Thanks for the Turtles. Maybe I will later on.

As far as your question about plans ands builds I guess I am not sure if you are asking about the pond or the drip system.
IF it is the drip system,...
  10. Re: What is the GPH of water coming from overflow

I think Santa is going to tell ya to measure it, under actual operation. In other words take a known gallon size bucket, and use your stopwatch (on your cell phone) to measure how fast the gallon...

Re: Help with adding scrubber to turtle pond

That's great that you take in the unwanted turtles. :D

I keep turtles too. I am going to be putting in a pond later this year.

But I plan on building a Drip System for the pond, and for my...

How big a scrubber do you think the setup will need to remove algae? 200+ gallons, full sun, big filter, lots of rocks, 17 water turtles....

Is there too much water flow?

I am convinced that I need to build my own scrubber.

    I have a 75 gallon reef setup. But I have a 1200 gph pump.

As a result, I will be running significantly higher rate than 35 gph, per inch...
