    algae blocking the water flow.

Hey everyone, I was thinking about the problem I have with my ATS. The algae grows up at the pipe and blocks the water flow even with regular cleanings. I was thinking that if i didnt scuff the top 1" or so of the screen that the algae would have a harder time sticking to it in that area. So what do you think? Anyone see a problem or concern with this idea?

Nope, mine is not roughed up next to the pipe. I still get algae growth up there but it comes off easy.

hey RNGH. I always suggest that you do not scuff the top inch of screen as you suggested. That's what I did with my design, but even then algae grows up to the slot. It doesn't matter with min because of acrylic box, but you are correct it will help. Adding a light blocker will certainly help also.
