    equipment for my nano scrubber

    Hello!

I am going to make an nano scrubber and beafore i start the build i hope you can give me your opinion if my equipment is satisfactory for my nano aquarium.

The scrubber is going to be placed on top of the aquarium an i have only enough space for an one sided screen, and the scrubber will have an vertical screen.

Aquarium: 63 liter nano, maybe total of 50 liters water.

    Scrubber equipment:'

Screen size: 15x10cm one sided and is made of material that will not let water trough the screen, all the water from pump will flow on top of the screen.

    Pump capasity: 450 liter/h

    Light: 20W CFL bulb

I know the screen, pump and light bulb is a little bit inadequate in relation to the recipe on the FAQ on this forum, but i see the comment "unless it's for a nano" in the FAQ about the needed lightning size/effect. And i see that also the SM 25 have only 75 gallon of flow on one side so i hope that the pump and the light bulb that i have is big enough for my nano scrubber, all the equipment that i thought i would use for my nano scrubber i already had in my house.

I am building my scrubber in a small box and i am also conserned about my 20W light bulb will produce too mutch heat, is it possible to use even a smaller bulb for a nano scrubber?

It should be ok. Smaller bulb ok too.

My nano is actually not 75 on each side... it's much less now because of some changes.

    So try yours out...

Thanks for your answer Santa Monica.

Du you have any suggestions for smaller bulb wattage and minimum flow for my screen?

At least a 13 watt bulb, and cover screen with flow.

    Hello!

If i want to spread the light more even on a algaescreen, is it ok to use two smaller bulbs too achieve the same amount of watts of one larger bulb?

For exsample: two 10W bulbs instead of one 20W bulb, or two 7W bulbs instead of one 14W bulb?

That's fine, but for such a small screen, one bulb should be better.

    Hello!

Since the regular plastic canvas that most people are using for screens are very diffiqult to get where i live i have been looking for a good screen material for one sided screen with no need for light to shine through.

I have found this material that might have some interest to scrubbers that have one sided screens. It is very very rough (mutch rougher that on picture)and it is made of polyester and stone.

I am going to try this on my scrubber, what do you think? any good material?

Here is the link to the manufacturer, the products name is: Steni Terra

Hope this is of interest for your scrubbers

Give it a try. If algae let's go, then it is not rough enough.

Re: equipment for my nano scrubber

    Hello!

Another question have come up with the build of my nano scrubber:

I am building my nano scrubber in a clear/transparent plastic box, this means that there will be regular daylight/light in livingrom that will reatch the sreen when the light bulb is of at daytime. The screen wil never bee in totally darkness.

Is this a problem?? Do i have to cover up the scrubber??

It does need some darkness, but you will have to experiment to see if you are giving it enough.
